Natural Language Interface to a 3d Domain

چکیده

Through practical implementation of the components of a natural language interface to a virtual environment (VE), we investigate the requirements of such a system in terms of natural language understanding, spatial knowledge and reasoning, and human-computer interaction. In this project, we step through the process of creating a set of tools necessary for a natural language interface to a restricted domain. we begin by creating a simple 3-dimesional domain around which the interface is constructed. A model for the storage and representation of spatial knowledge is produced, as well as various methods for applying this knowledge to the domain. A grammar designed to fit the requirements of the interface is constructed, and an encoding in XML is proposed for any such grammar. Finally a simple parser is implemented to apply this grammar to the interface. Each component is designed to stand alone, and can be used as a basis for, or be directly included in future work.
